Sunnyside plans the week; Reframe runs a course
Two US programmes people land on when they still drink and want help. Coaching, naltrexone, price, account. The six-app list with DrinkControl, MyDrinkaware, PintPal and us is the comparison.
Positioning and prices checked: 16 August 2026
Sunnyside sells a weekly plan and a human on the other end of a text. Reframe sells a 160-day course, daily tasks and a community. Tracking exists in both. In both, tracking is in service of the programme.

| Price (public pages, 16 August 2026) | 15-day trial; Basic $99/year; Cutback Coach $298/year. Med is separate. | 7-day trial; help page says about $100/year, billed annually. Store SKUs vary. Coaching extra. |
Prices move. Sunnyside's own site listed those two annual plans on 16 August 2026. Reframe's help page said about $100 USD a year and annual billing only, while the App Store listing showed several monthly and yearly SKUs. Believe the store the day you pay, not this table. We are not affiliated with either company.
What you are paying for is the difference. On Sunnyside, the Sunday plan and the optional human text are the product; drink logging is how the plan is checked. On Reframe, the daily lesson and the 160-day arc are the product; drink logging is one tool among meditations, courses and a community feed. Strip both down to a place to tap a pint and you have paid programme prices for a diary, and you still have an account.
A week in Sunnyside, on their own copy, starts Sunday with a plan you pre-commit to, then logging, optional texts to a coach, and a community if you want it. A week in Reframe starts with daily tasks and readings, with the community and toolkit sitting next to that. Neither week is "open the app when you pour, close it." That lighter loop is a diary. These two are programmes that happen to include a diary.
When Sunnyside fits
Sunnyside, on sunnyside.co, still presents itself as an app, a community and a coach in your pocket, with no pressure to quit. Every Sunday you get a plan for the week. You log drinks against that plan. Human coaches are a text away; the site says you do not have to use them. Coaching is real people, not an AI chatbot, on the copy we read.
Pick Sunnyside if what makes you follow through is a person expecting to hear from you, and if drinking less (not stopping) is the goal. Pick something else if you want a long structured course with daily lessons, if you want to quit, if you do not want an account, or if you need a clinician in your own country rather than a US telehealth funnel.
Sunnyside Med is a separate layer: licensed US providers, compounded naltrexone, shipped if prescribed. That was still on the homepage on 16 August 2026. It is a medical product. This page does not tell you to take it.
Time zones and language follow the market. Coaches and community posts we saw are in English. A UK unit total next to 14, or a French verre total next to 10, is not the interface. If that local line is the job, you are looking at a diary, not at Sunnyside.
When Reframe fits
Reframe, on reframeapp.com, still presents itself as a neuroscience programme: daily tasks, courses, a 24/7 community, meditations and craving tools. The App Store listing on 16 August 2026 described a core 160-day education programme. Tracking is in the toolkit. The thing you pay for is the course.
Pick Reframe if you want a programme that works on the habit, especially if stopping is on the table, and if daily lessons and a community are useful rather than noisy. Pick something else if you want a human texting you about this week's drinks (that is Sunnyside's centre of gravity), if you only wanted a diary, or if you do not want an account.
Thrive Coaching is an add-on in their own pricing copy. Reframe Med+ existed on 16 August 2026 as a US telehealth path to compounded naltrexone plus B6, if a clinician approves it. Same caveat as Sunnyside Med: medical, US, not a drink counter.
Reframe will take a cut-back goal. The homepage on 16 August 2026 said quit or cut back. The centre of gravity is still a course that occupies the day, not a weekly number you glance at. If daily tasks would make you hide the app, the programme cannot do the work it is designed to do.
If you want a private count and no programme
Both require an account. Both are English-language, US-shaped products. Both put coaching, community or a curriculum in front of the number. If the job is how many units this week, on this phone, with nobody watching, look at a diary instead. DrinkControl is the closer diary with streaks. MyDrinkaware is the free UK charity tracker. PintPal splits rounds. Those cards live on the comparison, which this page does not repeat.
If you wanted the log off every server, including theirs, the no-account page is the one that explains the trade-off.
Where Modraly sits
After that comparison: Modraly is an iPhone drink log with no account, no coach and no programme. It counts units, spend and calories and sits the week next to the official figure for the UK, France or the US. Skip it if you want what Sunnyside or Reframe are selling.
Modraly is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Naltrexone, telehealth and withdrawal are questions for a clinician. The NHS, Alcool Info Service and NIAAA are the right starting points. We are not affiliated with Sunnyside, Reframe, or those services.
Free to download. Logging is unlimited, always.
Common questions
Can I use Sunnyside and Reframe at the same time?
You can. You would be paying for two programmes, two accounts, and two coaching models. Most people pick one. If you only wanted a private drink count, neither is the tool, and stacking them does not fix that.
Do I need a prescription?
Not for the core apps. Sunnyside Med and Reframe Med+ are separate US telehealth products that may prescribe compounded naltrexone if a licensed clinician approves it. That is a medical process, not an in-app toggle. Availability, compounding rules and whether this exists where you live have to be checked with them. This page is not medical advice.
Is there a free tier?
Sunnyside advertised a 15-day trial with every feature included, then paid plans. Reframe advertised a 7-day trial. Neither is a free diary you keep using without a subscription. Check the App Store or Play listing the day you download; trials change.
Which one if I still drink?
Sunnyside is built to drink less, with a weekly plan and human coaches, and does not require you to quit. Reframe will also take a cut-back goal, but the product is a 160-day course, daily tasks and a community that treats habit change as the job. If the goal is zero, Reframe is the closer fit. If the goal is a private count and no programme, neither is.
Are they available in the UK or France?
Both list iPhone and Android. The coaching, community and telehealth layers are US-centric and in English. A UK or French weekly guideline in local units is not what you are buying. Check each site for current country availability, especially for Sunnyside Med and Reframe Med+.
