Common questions
How many units in a 175 ml glass of wine?
At 13%, 2.3 UK units (175 × 13 ÷ 1000 = 2.275). About 1.8 French verres standards.
How many units in a 250 ml large glass of wine?
At 13%, 3.3 UK units (250 × 13 ÷ 1000 = 3.25). About 2.6 French verres. Two large glasses are already 6.5 UK units.
Is a pub glass 175 ml?
In the UK, 175 ml is the usual medium and 250 ml the large. 125 ml is the small, closer to a French 12.5 cl serve. Ask which one was poured. The menu often does not.
Why not count glasses instead of units?
Because 125 ml of 12% and 250 ml of 14% are both "a glass" and not the same alcohol. Count millilitres and ABV, or the week is fiction.
