The Modraly app
Data stored on your device
Depending on how you use the app, it may store locally:
- Drink logs (time, timezone snapshot, drink type/name, volume, ABV, optional price/currency)
- Favourites and drink-free day marks
- Preferences (country, weekly reference, currency, appearance, optional gender preference)
- Integration toggles (for example Apple Health or morning/evening reminder preferences)
- Technical identifiers needed for features you enable (for example HealthKit sample UUIDs used to update or delete samples you previously wrote)
This information is stored with Apple's on-device frameworks (including SwiftData / app storage). We do not operate a Modraly account backend that receives your drink history.
Data we do not collect in the app (v1)
We do not collect, for our own servers:
- Drink history
- Location
- Contacts
- Advertising identifiers
- Analytics events from third-party SDKs
Optional: Apple Health
If you enable writing to Apple Health, the app may write:
- Alcoholic beverage samples (one sample per drink log)
- Optionally, dietary energy (calorie) estimates derived from your logs
Health data is written to Apple Health on your device under Apple's Health privacy controls. We do not use Health data for advertising or data mining. You can turn this off in Modraly Settings and manage or delete Health data in the Health app.
Optional: notifications
If you enable a morning or evening reminder, the app may ask Apple for notification permission and schedule local reminders on your device. Reminder content is generated on-device.
Optional: subscriptions (App Store)
If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive entitlement/status information needed to unlock premium features. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple's privacy policy also applies to App Store purchases.
Optional: CSV export
If you export a CSV, you choose where to send or save that file (for example Files, Mail, or another app). Treat exported files as sensitive. The current app does not import CSV files.
Device backups
If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup for your iPhone, Apple may include app data in that backup according to your device settings. That is controlled by Apple and your backup choices, not by a Modraly cloud sync account (cloud sync is not part of the current app).
Your choices
- Delete individual drink logs in the app
- Reset or change preferences in Settings
- Turn off Health writing or notifications
- Delete the app to remove on-device Modraly data (Health samples already written remain in Apple Health until you delete them there)
- Export a CSV before changing devices if you want to keep a copy
The Modraly website
If you join the waitlist on modraly.com, we collect the information you submit (such as first name and email) to send product updates. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails or by contacting us at privacy@modraly.com.
Website hosting/email tools may process that waitlist data on our behalf as service providers. We do not sell waitlist data.
Children
Modraly is intended for adults. It is not directed at children. Do not use the app if you are under the legal drinking age in your country.
International users
Modraly is offered in countries including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, and the United States. The app is designed so drink data stays on your device. Website waitlist data may be processed in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, Canada, Australia, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate, with appropriate safeguards where required.

Your rights (EEA/UK)
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal data we hold (for example waitlist email records), and you may object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
For on-device drink logs, use the in-app controls or delete the app; we cannot remotely access that data.
To exercise rights over waitlist data, email privacy@modraly.com.
Canada (PIPEDA)
Where Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) or substantially similar provincial laws apply, we collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, including:
- providing the Modraly app features you choose to use on your device;
- sending product updates if you join the website waitlist (with your consent); and
- responding to support or privacy requests.
Drink logs stay on your device; we do not operate a Modraly cloud account that receives that history. You may withdraw waitlist consent by unsubscribing or emailing us. Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you (for example waitlist records). Contact privacy@modraly.com. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Australia (Privacy Act)
Where Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply, we handle personal information for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the website waitlist and answering privacy or support requests. App drink logs are stored on your device and are not collected into a Modraly account backend.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you. Contact privacy@modraly.com. You may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
United States (including California)
In the app, drink logs and preferences stay on your device. Personal information we may collect through the website (if you join the waitlist) includes identifiers such as name and email, used to send product updates. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Where the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or similar U.S. state laws apply, you may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, and to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share as those terms are commonly defined for advertising). To exercise rights over waitlist data we hold, email privacy@modraly.com. For on-device drink logs, use the in-app controls or delete the app.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page when appropriate.
Not medical advice
Units, calories, guideline references, and any Health figures are estimates for personal awareness only. They are not a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. If you have concerns about your drinking or health, speak with a qualified professional or use the support resources linked in the app.
