Reframe alternatives if you want a tracker, not a course
Reframe sells a 160-day programme. Tracking exists inside it. If you landed there looking for a drink diary, four other apps, including us last.
Stay on Reframe if the course is what you are buying. Leave if you wanted to tap a pint and close the app, without daily lessons, a community feed, or a subscription after seven days.
What Reframe does well
A neuroscience and CBT course, not a tracker: daily tasks, readings, meditations, a community, monthly challenges. Tracking exists inside it. You pay for the course. 7-day trial, then a subscription; App Store SKUs on 10 September 2026 ran from $13.99 a month and roughly $60–$120 a year. English, US. Modraly does none of this. We are not affiliated with Reframe.
The App Store listing on 10 September 2026 still led with cut back or quit, a 7-day trial, and Thrive Coaching as an add-on. That is a programme storefront. A unit diary is a smaller product, sold at a smaller price.
Why people look for a Reframe alternative
Price. After the trial you are on a subscription; store SKUs on 10 September 2026 ran from $13.99 a month and about $60–$120 a year, with coaching extra. An account is required. The daily task is the loop, not an optional extra.
Some people wanted to log drinks and found a course. English, US-centric, naltrexone behind a separate medical product (Reframe Med+). If any of that is the mismatch, a diary or a lighter moderation plan is the other shelf.
Four alternatives
Modraly is not first. Sunnyside is still a programme; it is the closest job, not the cheapest.
Sunnyside
Moderation with a weekly plan and human coaches
Every Sunday a plan. You log against it. Human coaches by text if you want them, not a chatbot. 15-day trial, then Basic at $99/year or Cutback Coach at $298/year, checked on sunnyside.co on 13 September 2026. Sunnyside Med (US naltrexone) is a separate medical product. Accountability is the product. Its absence is the product here.
Pick it if a person expecting to hear from you is what makes you follow through. Skip it if you want a private count and no programme.
DrinkControl
Drinking diary, the closest thing to Modraly
Tracks drinks as units, calories and spend, against moderate/low-risk guidelines. Marks dry days and streaks. Data stays on the device. Premium (widgets, longer charts, reminders, CSV, custom drinks) is a subscription or a lifetime unlock. On iPhone since 2011; back on Android. English only.
If you want streaks and an Android version of a unit diary, start here. It is the most direct alternative to Modraly.
Try Dry
Official Dry January app, year-round
The Dry January app from Alcohol Change UK, usable all year. You log dry, drank, or drank as planned. It tracks units, calories and money against a baseline, awards badges (84 added in 2025), runs missions, and keeps dry streaks. Entirely free, no ads. You must create an account. Built around UK units and the 14-unit week.
The right free UK tool if badges and a Dry January frame help. Wrong if you refuse an account, or if you want French verres standards as the unit.
Modraly
Units, spend, calories vs your country guideline
Counts units, spend and calories, and puts the week next to the official line for your country. No account, no Modraly server, no ads, no data collection on free or Premium. The month calendar is fully visible; stats and history stop at 15 days unless you pay. Three favourites on free. Widgets, custom ranges, CSV, custom icons and unlimited history are Premium. An App Clip can log a drink without installing; that log is discarded when you install. Not a coach, not a streak, not Android.
Pick it if you still drink and want the number, on Apple hardware, without a login. Pick something else if you want a programme, a streak, Android, or a full free history.

Common questions
What is the best Reframe alternative if I still drink?
Sunnyside if you want a weekly plan and a human coach, without a 160-day course. DrinkControl or Modraly if you only want a private count. Try Dry if you want free UK units and badges. Reframe itself if the course is the point.
Is there a free Reframe alternative?
Try Dry is free. DrinkControl and Modraly are free to log. Sunnyside is a 15-day trial then $99 or $298 a year. Reframe is a 7-day trial then a subscription. None of the free diaries is a neuroscience course.
Does a Reframe alternative need an account?
Sunnyside, Try Dry and Reframe do. DrinkControl and Modraly do not. If the login screen is why you are leaving, those two are the shortlist.
Reframe vs Modraly: which one?
Reframe if you want daily tasks, a community and a programme to change the habit. Modraly if you want units, spend and calories next to your country guideline, with no course and no account. They are not substitutes.
