Quent La Brute
Indie iOS developer in London. He builds Modraly alone, and compiles and reviews every guide on this site.
He decided to build Modraly after taking in the risks that come with alcohol, and seeing how few drinks it takes to reach the official weekly guideline. The app exists to show what each drink adds, so there are no bad surprises.
The app
Modraly is an alcohol tracker for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, for people who still drink and want the numbers. There is no team behind it. About Modraly says why it exists and what it will not do, and what’s new lists each release with its date.
How the guides are written
He is a developer, not a clinician. The guides report what official public sources publish (the NHS, Alcool Info Service, the NIAAA) and link to them. Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. None of it is medical advice.
- How many units of alcohol per week, by country
- Alcohol unit and calorie calculator
- Units, calories or spend
- Moderate drinking vs quitting
- Alcohol tracker with no account
The rest are on the guides page.
How the app comparisons are written
The comparison of alcohol tracker apps is written by the developer of one of them, and says so. The facts come from each app’s own site and store listings, with the date they were checked. They are not the result of a hands-on test. Each page says when another app is the better choice.
